World Creativity and Innovation Week 2016
I couldn't be more excited that 1) There exists a World Creativity and Innovation Week, and 2) That I am participating in a small way with my own little creative business. I have been itching to do a #createmoreconsumelessretreat, a week long retreat where I log off, consume less information, and log into creating more. Since creativity to me is more like a spiritual practice, and I like to spread the good word of how much healthier your mind, body, and spirit can be when you practice good ol' creativity on a regular basis like a straight up creative evangelist, I would love to have you guys along for the journey.
So I encourage you to log off as well and retreat with me. Doesn't it sound divinely refreshing? If you want to follow along and possibly win a fun prize of one of my 14"x14" hand dyed indigo shibori accent pillows (which I will create during my retreat), here are the instructions:
1) Log off for the week. I'm not kidding. Delete Instagram from your phone. Stay off Facebook. Enjoy all that extra time for feeding your creative soul.
2) Follow my itinerary. You don't have to follow it to a T. Actually the official website for World Creativity and Innovation Week has it's own list of how to implement creativity for this week which you can find here. If you follow any of their suggestions too, I would love to see them and your submissions will count towards my drawing.
4/15 - Go into nature
4/16 - Make something that you usually buy
4/17 - Write a haiku
4/18 - Do a simple creative activity that you enjoyed as a kid
4/19 - Spend an hour working on your favorite creative endeavor
4/20 - Create a nature mandala from plants in your yard
4/21 - Try a new creative endeavor that you have been curious about
3) Log back on to Instagram on Friday 4/22 and I will be calling for submissions to see pictures of your creativity for the week. Include #createmoreconsumelessretreat and I will pick a winner for the pillow on Monday 4/25 at 1:00pm PST. Submissions will be accepted up until 12:00pm PST that day.
Furthermore, I wish I had spent more time this week leading up to World Creativity and Innovation Week writing more about this amazing event. Unfortunately moving is taking up too much of my time but I do highly encourage you to learn more either on their Facebook page here or on their website here. I hope you are as excited as I am to turn off the outer noises for the week and tune into the raw and empowering act of creating.
